Job Description

SNI Technology is currently on the search for two Splunk Engineers to assist with our client's upcoming project which is slated to run for at least 6 months. Our client has a large Splunk installation within Azure, distributed in multiple regions with a multi TB license. The environment has been used for several years and is experiencing bottlenecks and slowdowns due to poorly written searches, dashboards, and saved searched. The goal of this project is to clean up existing searches, improve search speeds, and set a new baseline policy for new searches.
Splunk focused skill set to include the following:

  • Splunk Data Analytics
  • Dashboarding, Reporting, Saved Searches
  • Splunk's SPL
  • Data onboarding and parsing
  • KVStore and Lookup Tables
  • Search optimization
  • Splunk Architecture
  • Permission and access control for knowledge objects
  • Clustering and distributed models
  • Splunk ES (Enterprise Security)
  • Splunk ITSI (IT Service Intelligence)

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Define, develop and perform performance/scalability benchmarks on Splunk Enterprise and Cloud products
  • Efficiently working with various profiling tools to identify performance and concurrency bottleneck, propose and implement optimizations to improve the Splunk product
  • Implement and improve sizing and capacity calculators for key Splunk application on the cloud

Who You Are & What Makes You Qualified:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 4-5 years of experience in Performance Engineering and Benchmarking
  • Skilled in both the art and science of benchmark creation and measurement and modeling of system behavior under load
  • Ability to find root cause of performance bottlenecks with profiling tools
  • Passionate to optimize the performance bottlenecks and improve the product
  • Experience in tackling problems of load, scale, and optimizations of complex large-scale deployments
  • Expert in scripting languages (Python) and compiled languages (C/C++)
  • Expert in distributed computing system and stack
  • Comfortable with Linux, Docker, AWS, GIT, Artifactory in terms of both tools and systems administration
