Job Description


The Application Systems Manager's role is to plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, implementation, and day-to-day support of the company's ERP systems and software applications. The Application Systems Manager is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide their development team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Lead all phases of system implementation and development by evaluating project requirements in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations.
  • Establish relationship with key members of the business units to understand business requirements and how they will be incorporated or accommodated by the ERP system.
  • Review and analyze system application effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Ensure that development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.


Acquisition & Deployment

  • Manage the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise using the company standard SDLC methodologies.
  • Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Lead and/or collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the development and testing of new software programs and applications.


Operational Management

  • Manage and provide direction for the application development team in support of business operations.
  • Identify, prioritize and resolve functional system and program errors.
  • Provide technical leadership to project managers, vendor partners and programmers working on development project teams.
  • Design, develop, and install enhancements and upgrades to systems and application software.
  • Liaise with vendor support and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing.
  • Cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
  • Where necessary, prepare, establish, and monitor budgets.


Minimum Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification

  • Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in Project Management (PMP) a plus.


Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience with core software applications, including ERP applications; Oracle NetSuite: e-commerce, Finance, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain, and Demand Planning, EDI systems.
  • 10 years direct experience in packaged ERP implementation and support; software development and/or programming design and systems management.
  • 5 years of managing and supervising a technical team.
  • Excellent proficiency in the use of MS Office products.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
