DevOps Engineer/Systems Administrator

SNI Technology Centennial, CO (Onsite) Contract to Hire
SNI Technology’s client is actively seeking to hire an IT DevOps Engineer for an exciting 3-month, contract-to-hire opportunity located in Centennial, CO! Please note this is a hybrid work environment requiring 3 days onsite per week (2 days remote/work from home).

Summary
We are seeking a mid-level IT professional for a hybrid role combining responsibilities in Systems Administration and Data Warehouse/Python development. This position supports core IT infrastructure, including Linux administration, Windows policy/domain management, and security controls—while also contributing to the automation, CI/CD implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines using Python and Airflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems Administration (50%)
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for Linux and Windows server environments.  Provide occasional Tier 1 support.
  • Perform system maintenance: patching, performance tuning, monitoring, and uptime assurance.
  • Manage Windows Group Policy Objects (GPOs), domain controllers, Active Directory, and user access provisioning.
  • Maintain system security through hardening, vulnerability remediation, access controls, patching, and compliance enforcement.
  • Support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), backup solutions, and storage systems.
  • Troubleshoot server and network issues across on-prem and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with senior System Administrator(s) to improve reliability, documentation, and audit readiness
  • Partner with Software Engineers, QA, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure smooth, secure, and automated delivery processes.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and ensure systems comply with FDA, AATB, and internal quality standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide first-level call triage (approximately 1 week out of every 8 weeks)
Data Warehouse & Python Development (50%)
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of Apache Airflow.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate data workflows and ETL processes.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Data Warehouse scripts and workflows to support versioning, testing, and automated deployment.
  • Improve pipeline reliability, error handling, scheduling, and performance.
  • Perform database scripting, data extraction, and integration across platforms like SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Document data engineering practices and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet reporting and integration requirements.
  • Adhere to and promote proper practices and techniques which are consistent with current operating procedures, training requirements, safety practices and company policies.
  • May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Formal Training Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or (7+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.

Education/Formal Training Preferred:
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, Linux, or Kubernetes
  • Experience with Epicor ERP or similar enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Working knowledge of Agile development and ITIL service management practices
  • Prior experience in highly regulated industries (FDA, healthcare, tissue banking, medical devices)

Technical Skills and Experience Required:
  • 3–5 years of DevOps experience in a cloud or hybrid environment
  • 2–3 years of experience in Python scripting and automation
  • Advanced scripting skills in Bash and PowerShell
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • Solid understanding of Linux server administration, including system monitoring, hardening, and automation
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production settings
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or ARM Templates
  • Proficiency in Git and Version Control Best Practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to communicate in English proficiently (speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension)

Technical Skills and Experience Preferred:
  • Operating Systems: Linux (e.g. Red Hat, Debian, Ubuntu), Windows Server
  • Scripting Languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell
  • Data Platforms: SQL Server, PostgreSQL
  • Workflow & CI/CD Tools: Airflow (preferred), Git, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins
  • Systems & Admin Tools: Active Directory, Group Policy Management, DNS/DHCP, backup solutions
  • Virtualization & Cloud: VMware, Hyper-V, basic Azure/AWS
  • Optional: Docker, Ansible, Terraform, vulnerability management tools (VMT), managed detection and response (MDR), and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools

Compensation Range
The compensation for this position is in the range of $37 to $42 per hour during the 3-month contract duration of the assignment with a starting annual salary range of $77K to $87K upon converting to permanent.
