Job Description

Job Title: VP, Financial Reporting and Accounting

Directs activities of a group of accounting professionals engaged in Accounting and Financial Reporting as well as activities relating to payment of Company payroll by performing the below listed duties personally or through subordinate managers. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the Company is in compliance with proper internal control over financial statements in accordance with the provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.


Oversees the Company's accounting function to insure that all financial data is reported and presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Responsible for reporting financial statements and other statistical data, internally to management and externally to parent company.

Provide guidance to senior management as to the proper accounting policy and procedures for new products and programs, including business acquisition, and for application of recent accounting pronouncements in accordance with the most recent accounting and SEC literature. Review recent accounting pronouncements to determine applicability to accounting policy and procedures. Document such findings and submit to Senior Accounting Officer for review. Research, document and respond to Senior Management inquiries regarding required accounting policy and procedures in accordance with GAAP.

Direct Corporate Income Tax function to include calculation of current and deferred income tax provision and coordination with compliance partners for preparation of annual corporate federal and state income tax returns.

Direct the activities of the Payroll Department to insure timely and accurate process of payroll and confidentiality of employee payroll data. Maintain accounting records for executive compensation plan and stock option plans.

Determine accounting and reporting requirements for current and proposed sales and marketing programs. This will include developing and maintaining a program of policy and procedures related to the requisition of sales and marketing expenses, across all Company programs, across all sales channels (Direct Sales, Retail, and Indirect Sales) and across all types of advertising.

Coordinate efforts of external auditors to include timely preparation by accounting department of client work papers and schedules; preparation of required internal control checklists; preparation of financial statements and related footnotes.

Maintain accounting policy and procedure manual and SOX narratives and procedures with respect to sales incentives, financial close, payroll, asset write-downs and others, in accordance with recent accounting pronouncements.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
