Job Description

Senior Server Engineer contract to hire position available in the Miramar, FL area.
Position is responsible for leading the design, development, operation, and maintenance of Information Technology computer systems and software applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of server technology systems and software applications.
  • Plan, design, and implement complex functional and technical application and system level designs.
  • Develop and champion efforts to improve processes through automation
  • Defines inter-dependency with other disciplines and is involved in the testing and certification processes.
  • Lead, direct, and provide technical guidance to team of Engineers.
  • Recommend process, organizational, and system changes to support key team objectives
  • Support, operate, and maintain computer systems and software applications.
  • Interpret, refine, and apply methods and procedures in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology industry standards and best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.
  • Remain current with industry trends to conceive, prototype and recommend technical approaches for IT systems and solutions that meet business needs.
  • Able to travel, as necessary, to perform required job duties.

  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent preferred
  • Expert level knowledge of VMWare virtualization technology - VMWare vSphere 6.5/6.7 (5 or more years of experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience providing Windows Server (2012 R2/2016/Nano Server) administration and server hardware/networking management on Cisco UCS, HP DL technology, and Hyperconverged server infrastructure
  • Extensive Active Directory knowledge managing global AD environments (ADDS, ADFS, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Hybrid cloud - Azure / AWS experience
  • Experience with automation tools simplifying deployments of Windows and VMware resources to on-prem and to the cloud
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell (PowerCLI)
  • 5+ years of Group Policy and Desired State Configuration authoring experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills
  • Must possess and have proven troubleshooting skills and independently manage projects and issues.
  • Candidate should be detail oriented, organized, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to demonstrate supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and IT leadership.
  • Must have the ability to remain professional under high pressure situations.
  • Ability to retain and protect confidential material.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen with a valid US passport. Less than 30% travel requirement.

Experience with the following a plus:

  • Relevant VMware and Windows Server certifications are a plus
  • Hands-on configuration and management with VMware vRealize Operations Manager/Automation and HashiCorp Terraform
  • VMware Horizon View and management of VDI environments
  • Managing Citrix Cloud and/or on-prem XenServer infrastructure
  • Python scripting
  • Understanding of multi-tiered web service architecture and SaaS model
  • F5 administration maintaining systems in a load-balanced environment
  • Enterprise system management tools such as SolarWinds
  • Managing server technology in cruising industry

Financial Responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities. May lead large/complex estimation activities
  • Meets expectations in meeting deadline within budget, schedule and appropriate quality
