Manager Software Engineering

The Manager of Software Engineering is a highly motivated professional that has exceptional skills as a leader and deep experience cultivating high performing teams. Must be a driven, high energy individual with experience managing large remote teams across different technical domains.

  • Talent Management - solid expertise and knowledge in resource management and staff performance management
    • Direct reporting line responsibility for supervising, monitoring, coaching, growing, disciplining, and appraising individual performance
    • Identify, interview, and hire the appropriate staff needed for the team
    • Review and approve weekly timesheets and PTO requests for staff
    • Responsible for the productivity and quality of services provided by the team
    • Provide hands on technical oversight on project initiatives as appropriate to promote, influence, and guide delivery excellence
    • Continuously monitor individual and team performance and proactively provide positive and constructive feedback
    • Identify areas of growth for staff and create individualized professional development plans
    • Monitor and enforce compliance of all Company and Group policies and procedures

Skills & Competencies

  • Former hands-on engineering experience with Microsoft technologies including .NET, C#, SQL Server, ASP.NET, and WPF (VB6 desired)
  • Exposure to architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions (AWS/Azure)

Education or Prior Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required in technology related area (MBA helpful, but not required).
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience leading remote engineering teams with 18 or more team members.
  • Previous experience with an ERP or SaaS based product company highly desired.
  • 5 or more years of experience with formal SDLC methodologies, practices, and procedures
  • Helpful if prior experience implementing PMBOK best practices, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closing.
  • Helpful if prior experience as an Agile Coach to educate and facilitate the practical inclusion of agile methods and practices to improve product quality and accelerate delivery, including iterative development, Kanban, and TDD.
