Job Description

Our client is seeking a Software Development Manager for an exciting contract to hire scenario. The Software Development Manager independently manages software development efforts for business-information systems and the organization's website. Monitors and maintains the organization's website servers and services. Focus is on software development projects of high risk, complexity and visibility; includes resource allocation, phases of a software development life cycle, i.e., requirements, analysis, design, programming, testing, and implementation planning. Frequent contact with all levels of management is expected. The Software Development Manager ensures system quality and conformance to standards. A significant portion of time may be allocated for assisting in all areas of development, including programming. Key administrator of content management software; schedules training; and manages administrative permissions. This position is an important and multifaceted position. This person is a company-wide recognized expert and leader within the Technology department.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the successful completion of all software development efforts and that the final solution is produced on time and meets technical specifications and functional requirements.
  • Manages each phase of the software development life cycle and is responsible for the production and quality of the deliverables for each phase.
  • Serves as liaison to business customers and performs or manages business analysis to transform business requirements into technical and functional requirements.
  • Responsible for the monitoring, accessibility, integrity, functionality, and performance of the organization's website.
  • Identifies and advocates for improvements in software development processes and in business system software and website usability and performance.
  • Manages and addresses software development related issues, requests, and defects. Performs or delegates identification, investigation, analysis, solution design, solution implementation, and resolution as necessary.
  • Participates as technical lead, software and system engineer, as well as programmer in the software development lifecycle.
  • Develops new or improves processes as necessary to ensure success, efficiency, and quality; provide expertise in identifying appropriate methodologies for large-scale development efforts.
  • Prepares formal presentations to colleagues and management.
  • Ensures compliance with architectural design and divisional system integration standards/guidelines. Provides leadership to the software development team toward the attainment of high quality systems, making sure systems are consistent with standards and operating procedures.
  • Monitors and controls change management for the implementation of software development. Ensures staff is trained and well prepared for changes to systems.
  • Primary administrator for the content management software (CMS). Knowledge source for all software functions. Schedules and conducts staff training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of experience of formal software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a business analyst, project management, or information technology role in a complex business and systems environment.
  • Experienced in business analysis (related to gathering and documenting business requirements) and process analysis.
  • 3+ years of programming experience (C#,.NET, MS Visual Studio, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, etc.) that includes both web and desktop applications.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Project Management, Software Engineering, Business Administration or Computer Science), or equivalent work experience.
  • Highly effective oral and written communications.
  • Excellent judgment, leadership.
  • Ability to maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with teams and customers.
  • Experience with technical alternatives and knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Must exhibit creativity and innovation in system solutions; must be broadly focused and able to manage multiple efforts concurrently.
  • Knowledge of business processes and interrelationships is required.
  • Familiar with software systems design and programming.
  • Familiar with administering project management tools (MS Project Server).
