Job Description

SNI Technology's client is seeking to hire a Senior Applications Systems Analyst for an exciting, contract-to-hire opening located in Thornton, CO.

We are recruiting for a Senior Applications Systems Analyst to play a key role in supporting our client's student information system (i.e. Infinite Campus) and other academic applications.

Because we are a lean team of generalists, the person who fills this position will be a key contributor throughout the entire project life cycle, from gathering business requirements to assisting with system design, testing, documentation, implementation, and customer support.

The successful candidate must be an excellent communicator who can work closely with end users to understand their business needs, in addition to collaborating with a high functioning IT team.

Key initiatives we will be tackling in the next 2 to 3 years include:

  • District-wide roll out of online enrollment for new students.
  • Implementation of role-based security for our student information system.
  • A re-work of our processes for soliciting and adding new student courses in a large and complex district.
  • Development of structures to engage key customers in order to better inform our work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate at all stages of development including scope, objective, research, analysis, design, programming, testing and implementation of computer based applications including Student Information Systems, E-mail and Anti-Malware systems.
  • Install, configure, enhance, customize, maintain and support the district student information system and E-mail software by analyzing, testing and implementing new software, modules, and upgrades to existing software. Ensure data integrity and quality assurance.
  • Provide high level technical expertise and direct support for problem solving, troubleshooting, and general use for district staff, community in the operation of the district's data warehouse suite, Student Information Systems, E-mail systems suite; solicit cooperation from software engineers, as needed
  • Install, configure, enhance and support the district's Enterprise data backup and recovery system. Develop, test, implement and maintain the district's disaster recovery plan.
  • Derive, compile and use data in all phases of report processing and ensure accurate and timely reporting from the district student information system and data warehouse for use by administrators and school community. Provide review of system data logs and performance rubrics for the CITO and IT Managers
  • Collaborate with departments and clients in project design and development from start to finish. Develop and coordinate production processing schedule.
  • Design, develop, coordinate and conduct professional development activities related to the use of the district's E-mail and anti-spam systems, Student Information Systems, data warehouse suite and other applications.
  • Write, review and approve documentation for the system and communicates any procedural changes to appropriate staff members. Provide guidance and support to less experienced analysts.
  • Evaluate new software solutions.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • High level of analytical and problem solving skill, including data analysis, program design, testing, debugging and detailed database concepts and operating systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of current computer software applications and student information systems.
  • Experience with leading-edge technologies.
  • Knowledge of SQL dialect and relational database theory.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Includes adapting to and mastering new system applications and processes as implemented by the district or department.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspect of the job.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, building and department procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an information technology or related field. Four (4) additional years of similar and relevant experience may be substituted for this requirement
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a technical computer applications role; knowledge of the existing software.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire

Required Skills:

  • Technical support skills for large, enterprise applications with the ability to ask the right questions and move quickly toward identifying root cause.
  • Technical writing expertise, specifically communicating technical concepts in a user-friendly way.
  • QA experience, including the creation and execution of test plans
  • Experience with training, facilitating, and course development.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with K-12 applications like Infinite Campus (Student Information System) and Enrich (Special Education), and Naviance (College Readiness).
  • Experience with State Reporting via Data Pipeline to the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Experience working with Application Level Security
  • Entry- to mid-level SQL scripting skills
