Job Description

Strategy & Planning

  • a. Create, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for network administration based on industry-standard best practices
  • b. Assess need for any network reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required
  • c. Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of networking enhancements

  • Acquisition & Deployment

    • a. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to implement services and products
    • b. Recommend, schedule, and perform networking improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases

    Operational Management

    • a. Deploy, manage and maintain all network infrastructure devices and their corresponding associated software. This includes, but not limited to firewalls, intrusion detection systems, switches, SD-WAN devices, Application Delivery Controllers, Wi-Fi and VoIP system solutions
    • b. Administer and troubleshoot client connections (e.g. IPSec VPN, SFTP)
    • c. Administer all Network Devices (routers, switches, appliances) in the Global Infrastructure
    • d. Monitor networking logs and traffic for performance issues. Digest information and make recommendations for resolutions accordingly
    • e. Recommend, schedule (where appropriate), and apply solutions, security patches, disaster recovery procedures, and any other measures required
    • f. Participate in after-hours projects related to network maintenance and on-call rotation as needed
    • g. Provide mentoring to global junior team members

    Education (Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, Etc.)

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

    Networking certifications a plus (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+)

    Experience

    5+ years in administering and enhancing critical network technologies.

    Proficient hands on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts such as IP subnetting, routing and switching.

    Strong familiarity with common protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, BGP/OSPF, IPSEC, SFTP, STP, LACP, DNS, DHCP, QoS and VoIP.

    Strong documentation experience (e.g. Knowledgebase articles, Visio diagrams, architecture docs, etc.)

    Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability

    Broad hands-on knowledge of networking industry-standard best practices

    Extensive knowledge of firewall platforms e.g. Palo Alto and Cisco ASA

    Extensive knowledge of Cisco routers and switches (Cisco IOS, NX-OS), F5 Application Delivery Controllers, Aruba Wireless AP/Controller

    Working technical knowledge Silver Peak SD-WAN

    Knowledge of applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection such as PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, Mass 201 CMR 17 data privacy

    High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities including critical thinking

    Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required

    Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives

    Highly self-motivated and directed

    Strong organizational and project management skills

    Excellent attention to detail

    Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure fast paced environment

    Able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative, global environment

    Ability to create and maintain documentation for knowledge base articles, team training, procedure and policy documents, network diagrams

    Ability to communicate effectively with offshore team members

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form

    Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
