Job Description

Our client is seeking a Network Administrator for an exciting contract to hire opportunity. Under the general direction of the supervisor of technical support, the network administrator position helps users achieve optimum use of their computer networks by performing needs analysis, procurement support, installation, training and problem resolution for the local and wide area networks. Responsible for configuration, operation, and administration of network server hardware, operating systems, and communications links. Defines and implements solutions to integrate desktop and shared devices into local and wide area networks and/or other host-based networks. Incumbent has routine contact with information systems staff, all levels of employees as end users, and vendor representatives. Responsible for coordination of all activities regarding the organization's data networks.

  • Configure and maintain Cisco & Meraki Firewalls/wireless, Cisco LAN/WAN routers & switches, various other routers and switches
  • Implement and maintain firewall infrastructure - Various VPNs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues involving routers, switches, wireless in a multi-routing (OSPF, BGP, HSRP) infrastructure
  • Prepare and maintain up to date documentation & detailed diagrams for all network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance.
  • Work with communication providers to install and maintain various circuits.
  • Maintain hardware backups of device configurations, firmware and OS.
  • Create, maintain, and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Secure and maintain LAN, WAPs & Global MPLS network
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level support for incident/problem escalation including troubleshooting the full stack of network infrastructure in relation to global applications.
  • Plan, manage, and lead projects with adherence to deadlines.
  • Installation of network equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, security devices and other appliances.
  • Minimal travel required to support data center infrastructure on a monthly basis or on an emergency basis as needed.
  • Some after hour work required to complete infrastructure upgrades that must be scheduled around business needs
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule


  • 3+ years of experience in firewall security, wireless, routing, and switching in an enterprise environment.
  • Cisco Certification in network technologies - CCNA or CCNP preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of network security, policies, and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of wireless LAN technologies. Access points (APs), wireless LAN controllers, wireless management, Two Factor Authentication, Active Directory (AD), RADIUS, TACACS, and RSA
  • Comprehensive hands on experience with Cisco routers, switches, security devices, and supporting components
  • Proficiency working with ACLs, TCP/IP, VLAN, IP Multicast, routing (BGP, OSPF, HSRP), and switching
  • Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems, identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritizing multiple objectives and initiatives
  • Able to work in a team environment and with a diverse group
  • Hands on experience with current Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server, VMware Virtualization, Acronis Software, Hyper V
  • Experience with Autotask a major plus
