Job Description

Our client is seeking a Junior to mid-level Database administrator for an exciting contract to hire opportunity.

  • Develops processes to calculate student and staff data for all requirements of common assessments, individual student academic data, collaborative group data sources, and standardized test scores
  • Effectively uses SQL scripting language to process, extract, search, and analyze relevant data and data relationships
  • Prepares, monitors, and edits student biographical data, testing accommodations, and building level testing formations in multiple state testing platforms prior to, during, and after specific testing windows as assigned
  • Evaluates and modify system designs to ensure an efficient database structure exists within the system environment
  • Maintains and modifies systems related to application database files and structures
  • Works with new systems and development to assure proper integration and performance
  • Provides system expertise to extract data from system sources to meet user needs
  • Oversees database system security and user access
  • Isolates, identifies, and troubleshoots actual and potential database system performance issues
  • Supervises the integration of new database software with current systems
  • Designs, monitors, and implements data replication between systems and takes corrective action as needed
  • Designs, implements, and monitors data warehousing activities on administrative data systems
  • Conducts system related feasibility studies and manages system and data requirements
  • Develops and delivers effective data representations that support strategic data driven decisions and instruction and communicates effectively to non-technical practitioners
  • Works with other staff and users to assist them in data warehousing needs
  • Develops and presents professional development around data which may include the Colorado Growth Model, Data-Driven Dialogue, and Measures of Student Learning Database


  • Demonstrates the ability to apply a wide range of technology skills involving data retrieval and analysis including a solid background in the use of Excel/Access or other database programs to manipulate and create data displays
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with technical and non- technical audiences
  • Demonstrates ability to operate personal computers and related software programs in order to complete essential functions in an accurate and timely manner
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve errors and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Demonstrates the ability to take work direction, prioritize work load in a shifting environment, and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates the ability to proficiently use single and multiple databases (such as MS SQL and Oracle) to work with, merge, separate, and analyze data
