Job Description

Our client is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for a direct hire opportunity. The Embedded Software Engineer will be part of a tight knit engineering team to help lead development activities of next generation architectures, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems built by the company and key partners. As part of an agile research and development group, you will be responsible for defining, documenting, and deploying software throughout all engineering cycles including requirements, design, implementation, test and support. Job functions include development of code and integration of software components into a fully functional software system (applications are primarily military avionics and mission systems). The software team collaborates with the systems engineering team for traceability and verification of software requirements. The software will be developed in accordance with approved company processes and metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the company's engineering and quality processes.
  • Develop software for embedded applications. Object-oriented principles are preferred.
  • Estimate project software development effort and deliver on-time.
  • Report progress using written and oral communications.
  • Actively find ways to innovate.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a US Citizen; Active Secret clearance.
  • BS or equivalent degree: Computer Science or Engineering with substantial software coursework. MS is a plus.
  • 3+ years related professional experience:
    • embedded microprocessor and/or digital signal processor (DSP) hardware environments
    • software development in C/C++, OOP/OOD
    • RTOS is required
    • Linux is desirable
    • Understanding of embedded bus structures, processing, and I/O like UART, SPI, and I2C
    • Knowledge of Ethernet protocol stack, IEEE-1588, and tools such as WireShark is a plus
    • Detailed knowledge of the operation of GPS receivers is a strong plus
  • Experience working in DOD SW development environment and familiarity with quality processes.
  • Must work well and interact professionally in a team environment, which includes customers, government representatives, peers, and associates.
  • Strong speaking and writing skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office.
