Conceptual Highway Engineer


Job Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the development and oversight of conceptual engineering design efforts and report preparation. This may include significant coordination with internal and external design support staff, Client staff, and local governing agencies.
* Participate in the production of in-house traffic design tasks ranging from the preparation of concept plans to signed and sealed contract documents.
* Support project managers on making decisions and recommendations on behalf of the Client at meetings concerning project issues and disseminating meeting results to the appropriate parties.
* Develop design plans in collaboration with Client and other consultants that comply with all State, Federal, and Client's design criteria and standards.
* Review and incorporate review comments in Electronic Review Comments system (ERC) for subsequent submittals.
* This role will be working full-time at the Clients office. A self-starting attitude as well as a clear and professional communication and behavior are expected.
* This position will require the ability to work in a team environment, collaborate with Client and other consultants working at the Client's office.
* This position requires great time management and organizational skills as this Engineer will be involved in multiple projects operating on multiple schedules.

Education and Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering is required.
* 1 - 5 years post P.E. registration experience in transportation engineering is required.
* Software skills required: MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoPak, and Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional Suites.
* Critical and analytical thinking, as well as structured and creative problem-solving skills.
* Experience in the production of roadway design concept plans.
* Familiarity with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Policy and Procedures, including the Florida Design Manual (FDM) and FDOT Standard Plans.
* Experience within the tolls industry is a plus.
* Strong interpersonal skills; strong technical documentation and report preparation skills; knowledge of production systems and personal computer proficiency.
* Ability to work independently.

Professional Registration:
P.E. license is required or the ability to be registered within one (1) year.
