Manager, Solution Delivery Services

SNI Technology Andover, MA (Onsite) Contract to Hire
Summary / Objective   The Manager of Solution Delivery Services is the individual responsible for executing the technical and engineering tactics to achieve the IT Project Portfolio.  This person will oversee the technical acumen of engineers in IT Project Teams to ensure objectives, goals, and strategies achieve technical and business value. A successful candidate is a seasoned technical professional with business and technical acumen to direct and manage engineers in an Agile setting.  They will have an established background in managing distributed teams including consultants and varied engineering paradigms such as Commercial-off-the-shelf platforms, low-code / no-code, and custom developed web applications.

To achieve these goals, the Manager provides direction and oversight over the project teams related to excellence in software development, use of code-left principles for secure coding, and identifying opportunities for DevOps and platform engineering.  Your role also provides the opportunity to work and learn with the larger IT team and how best to leverage the overall Software Development Lifecycle to improve our project outcomes.  Providing support and coordination amongst project teams and business partners as an advocate of technology and ways of working is essential.   Essential Functions  
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to project teams to ensure compliance to technical and performance standards.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and alignment of technology to business strategies in partnership with technical and business leadership.
  • Serve as an approachable leader who champions a positive and productive work culture.
  • Promote agile engineering strategies that optimize customer value and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Enforce governance mechanisms that are necessary to coordinate and integrate application service providers, IT project & operational needs, and business priorities.
  • Sustains information systems that meet the business needs through relationship management, engineering high quality software, process improvement, and performance management tactics.
  • Work closely with the engineering leads and business stakeholders to solution and develop the best technical design and approach.
  • Ensure solutions under development adhere to security, compliance, and architectural standards.
  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to leadership.
  • Serve as the technology liaison for business areas to understand stakeholder issues and opportunities to define a product roadmap.
  • Review and recommend project management activities focused on team performance and conflict management as needed.
  • Review and assign project team resources (internal and external staff) to achieve our strategic direction with high quality.
  • Work with vendors to define and enforce service-level agreements.
  • Lead the resolution of technical blockers to a project’s success including escalation to architecture and project management forums.
  • Work with analysts, engineers, and management to identify process improvement opportunities, propose architecture improvements, and recommend updates to tools/strategies to improve the scalability/security of our application platforms.
  • Remain current with application development methods & technologies including those offered within the AWS Cloud space.
  • Manage in a collaborative fashion the expansion of competencies, skills, and technologies that drive the performance of individuals, teams, and solutions.
  • Promote innovation and continuous process improvement in the IT organization.
  • Other duties as assigned to support application development and support activities.

  Required Education and Experience  
  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering.
    • Minimum of 15+ years’ professional experience within a Software Engineering or Solution Delivery discipline and at least 6+ years’ experience leading engineering teams.
    • Experience in client or project management.
    • Written and verbal communication skills.
    • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in business or a Technical Management area.
    • Experience with AWS products and services related to full stack software development and middleware.
    • Experience within the P&C Insurance industry in a leadership role.
    • Experience with Guidewire InsuranceNow or other Core platform within insurance.
    • Experience with Appian for business process automation.
