Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead and manage projects involving electrical design deliverables, including one-line diagrams, motor schematics, protection and control (P&C) plans, grounding, lighting, heat trace, panel schedules, and P&C circuit schedules. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy industry sectors such as metals, minerals, energy, oil & gas, power distribution, utilities, and renewables.

This role involves planning, coordination, and project management for both smaller ($5M) and larger projects ($200M+), with a strong focus on delivering quality results on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of electrical engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, motor schematics, protection and control plans, grounding, lighting, heat trace, panel schedules, and circuit schedules.
  • Apply expertise in heavy industry sectors (metals, minerals, energy, oil & gas, power distribution, utilities, renewables).
  • Plan and coordinate the work schedules of junior engineers, designers, and drafters on a project-by-project basis to meet cost, quality, and time objectives.
  • Conduct site visits and perform power systems analysis, develop electrical equipment lists, motor load lists, and drawing lists.
  • Manage and lead electrical engineering projects, ensuring successful coordination of startup, commissioning, and testing activities.
  • Resolve technical issues, enforce project standards, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and requirements.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to subordinate engineers, ensuring consistent quality and accuracy across all deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in electrical design within heavy industry sectors such as energy, oil & gas, power distribution, and utilities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects and managing personnel, with a strong ability to mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Ability to manage large and small projects, ensuring they meet objectives for cost, quality, and timelines.
  • Proficient in electrical design software and tools, with experience in developing detailed electrical designs and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve both major and minor technical issues.
  • Ability to coordinate startup, commissioning, and testing activities and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
