Job Description

IT, Manager of Database Systems direct hire position available in SW Broward County area.
Database Manager will be responsible for:

  • Development and execution of technical goals and strategies for the corporate Database Management Systems
  • Manage department budget
  • Manage a staff supporting a 24/7 global operation of internal and external users.


  • Lead, develop and mentor direct reports (including offshore partners) (5 - 7 team members)
  • Lead the estimations and project tasks assigned to the team for all new development projects.
  • Sets the vision, strategic direction for the Database Systems Team.
  • Develops and administers skills assessments, Individual Development Plans and training plans.
  • Develop project and funding proposals for programs that provide continuous delivery of cost-effective Database Management Systems solutions.
  • Monitor and manage Database Systems team labor and operational costs, and input to the budgeting process, including variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Creates and manages budget of $2 million dollars or more of for own operating group and/or projects under their supervision
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
  • Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities
  • Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in area of specialty, or equivalent experience
  • 8 or more years of experience in Database Administration multiple database systems such as; MS SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, DB2
  • Proven experience in leading 5 - 7 employees
  • Experience in working senior management and executive teams in IT and business.
  • Familiar with various Database Management Systems, packaged Enterprise Resource Planning software systems, Business Intelligence (BI) offerings, operating systems, storage options, networking, and security. Familiar with tools to manage these various environments.
  • Must be familiar with TCO analysis.
  • Must be familiar in writing effective statements of work (SOW)
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, word-processing, graphics
